Canada Wins #WCH2016, Crosby Adds To Trophy Case

It looked like a third, deciding game was in the cards for the World Cup of Hockey.  And then Canada happened.

Captain Crosby Captures Cup with Canada

Pittsburgh Penguins and Team Canada Captain Sidney Crosby added a World Cup Championship and a World Cup MVP to his trophy case as Canada defeated Team Europe 2-1.

In game two of the World Cup Finals, Canada defeated Team Europe coming from behind with 2:53 left in the game. Crosby made a perfect pass off the boards to defenseman Brent Burns who gave it a one-time snap shot which ended up deflected by Patrice Bergeron and in the back of the net. That assist lead to the game being tied at one.
None other than Brad Marchand scored the World Cup clinching goal with 43.1 seconds remaining.

Canada took the series two games to none and the captain was the first to lift the trophy. He also ended up lifting an MVP trophy as well.

Team Canada scored a total of 24 goals during the tournament. Crosby finished with 10 points which is good for making a mark on 41.7% of Canada's goals in the World Cup.

In 2016 alone, Sidney Crosby has won a Stanley Cup, a Conn Smythe, a World Cup, a World Cup MVP, NHL First Team All-Star and and Emmy. Not bad.
