There is something wonderful about sitting in an ice rink on the brink of the season beginning. A kind of excitement that controls your thoughts. The only thing better is the excitement of an upcoming season AND giving back to charity. Luckily for Penguins fans, the Lemieux 6.6k and mile walk combines those two things.
Each year I find myself more and more impressed by the production and people involved. I don’t think we always realize how lucky we are in Pittsburgh to be dealing with such a solid organization, but this a reminder. From the people at the packet pickup section, to the gatekeepers letting you in for the open practice after, everyone is friendly and upbeat. It’s a nice thing to remember that we are all there for something bigger than ourselves.
I would suggest this event to anyone. If you are not up for a 6.6k, there is a nice mile long walk that you can choose instead. The point is GO, donate, and have a blast. We are lucky we have an owner who allows us to give back and get rewarded for it.
Oh, and Happy Birthday #66, thanks for all you do.
