This is Three Rivers Philosophizer - A weekly review of stuff that is going on in my brain... at least the stuff that has to do with hockey. If you don't like it, I don't blame you.
This Week In #FartNoise:
Predators @ Penguins
Post by Pens Initiative.
Geno on if he’s bummed to miss playing James Neal: "He texted me asking if I play or not. I said, maybe. He said, take a couple more days."It was Superbowl Sunday, but the big game was the Pens vs. the Preds.

.@BlueJacketsNHL Horrible bet. After the Predators jumped to an early 2-0 lead, the bad news just kept coming.

pic.twitter.com/mDNVA203PqThe 2nd period was uneventful until the Preds scored again with only 40 seconds left to push their lead to 3-0.
— Pens Initiative (@PensInitiative) February 1, 2015
By the time it was halfway through the 3rd period, when the Preds made it 4-0, the game was basically over. This is a Pens team that is having major trouble scoring goals. They are getting chances, but no puck luck.
The citizens have seen enough. Can't blame them. pic.twitter.com/SKIgtfkoyJ

Penguins @ Oilers
Hey, when does this Corsi thing go into the net?Advanced stats can't save us from the Pens not scoring. After the 1st period it was still 0-0.

Kris Letang now has 8 assists on the #Pens last 8 goals. #BEASTMODELetang also assisted on the next Pens goal, a deflection off of Perron with .4 seconds left in the 2nd to make the score 2-0 Pens.
— Pittsburgh Penguins (@penguins) February 5, 2015
You talk about a BIG GOAL...That would be a killer for Oilers...with 0.04 seconds left...Perron from Letang ..Perron off the leg
— Bob Pompeani (@KDPomp) February 5, 2015
We need a review of first goal. Oilers have nothing better to do at this point than try to protect a Gretzky record. And so that streak bites the dust:
— Josh Yohe (@JoshYohe_Trib) February 5, 2015
So much for Letang chasing history. His assist was just changed to Hornqvist's. Streak ends at 7 -SKIn the end it was all Pens.

Penguins @ Flames
During the 2nd period, with the score 2-0, Pascal Dupuis tweeted this about Sutter's goal:Hey @PensPRLady make sure they keep the door shut for the post game interview #16For those who don't understand the meaning behind this, it's because last season RootSports broadcast a naked Sutter on live TV. Forgive me for not sharing the picture as it's obviously NSFW.

The game, however, was an easy win for the Pens.

Fleury becomes the first goaltender in Penguins' history to post back-to-back shutouts on the road.

Penguins win, 4-0. Fleury gets team-record eighth shutout of season.
