Pens Sign Daniel Carcillo To A Pro Tryout

The Pittsburgh Penguins have signed Daniel Carcillo to a professional tryout contract. Carcillo is a notorious pest in the NHL, and probably one of the most hate players in the entire league. This is a very interesting signing, considering that the Pens have already been rumored to have interest in bringing in former Penguin Ryan Malone for a tryout as well.

There is no guarantee that Carcillo will actually make the team, but you can make the case that he would be an upgrade over aging veteran Craig Adams. Carcillo has 92 points in 390 career games, with a whopping 1179 penalty minutes. An interesting fact about Carcillo is that he has played on three different teams that have made the Stanley Cup finals since 2010.

For the fans that wanted the Penguins to have more grit, they certainly added that with Carcillo and his former teammate Steve Downie. Pens training camp officially gets under way on September 19th, with the first preseason game on the 22nd, against the Detroit Red Wings.
