Free Agency Update: Tanner Glass to the New York Rangers

The bottom six continues to alter in Pittsburgh as another member of the team over the past few years which served in that capacity moves on with Tanner Glass heading to the New York Rangers.

It was well known in Pittsburgh that Glass was moving on.  His agent said as much earlier in the week.  The thought destination was a reunion in Winnipeg, where he'd started his career.  Instead he lands up on Broadway with the team who lost the Cup as they undergo their own remake.

Tanner Glass
The 6'1", 210 lbs Glass heads to the Rangers on a three year, $1.45 million deal where he'll take his game of toughness and ability to penalty kill to a team seeing a good deal of their depth move to free agency.

At 30 the 9th round pick continues to go strong as the big man who will do the dirty work.  Known more for a bet made by our own Mad Chad than his abilities, he was a fan favorite for his penchant for fights and getting in the faces of other players.

A victim of a high cap hit and a dreadful bottom six his moving on was one of which was expected even before he announced he would not be remaining with the team.  A shift in philosophy from the previous regime made Glass expendable.  He moves on to his fifth team after the Florida Panthers, Vancouver Canucks, Winnipeg Jets and the Penguins.
