Penguins/Bluejackets Recap by @pghgirl15222

If the Pittsburgh Penguins wanted to see how fast they could get our hearts pumping, they did a good job on Monday night in Columbus. After leading 4-0 midway through the third period, they allowed 3 goals from Columbus and before you know it, all of Pittsburgh was emergency dialing their doctor’s offices for anxiety medication.

This game belonged to number 71. Malkin was fast, physical, and had a hat trick. He reminded fans so much of the guy from the 2009 Cup run, and it could not have come at a better time. According to Elias Sports Bureau, Malkin joins the likes of Mario Lemieux and Sidney Crosby as the third player in franchise history to score multiple hat tricks in the playoffs. Shocking.

In between Malkin’s goal, there was a beautiful breakaway by Brandon Sutter and Lee Stempniak, who was coming back onto the ice after a penalty. Brandon Sutter has arguably been one of the best players of the series. If you do not agree, please watch replays, and if you still do not agree-stop watching hockey.

On another note, I need to give the fans in Columbus a ton of credit for the noise level and hanging on with them until the end. A lot of fans might have left a game losing 0-4 through the third. You guys didn’t, and you gave your team the respect they deserved. Kudos.

As for the Pittsburgh fans, let’s breathe a sigh of relief for a few days, and prepare for the next round. Hopefully baby is buckled up properly.
