Pens/Bruins Recap by @pghgirl15222

The Pittsburgh Penguins stared down some of their demons on Wednesday during a 3-2 victory over the Boston Bruins.

There were times during the game I wondered if the refs had eyes or knew what a penalty was as both sides got away with a lot of questionable play, but the Pens were able to capitalize on their opportunities and come away with the victory. The truth is for at least two periods of the game last night, the Pittsburgh Penguins were by far the better team. Just ask Bruins Coach Claude Julien: “Give them credit. They were a determined team. For at least two periods they were the better team…”

The Penguins outshot the Bruins 31 to 23 and looked strongly like a team determined to prove that last year’s Eastern Conference Finals were a mistake.

Chris Kunitz drew the first blood in the second period on a nice power play goal. Brandon Sutter scored his first goal of the season and Jussi Jokinen added what ended up being game winner in the third period for the Penguins.

Bergeron scored and Iginla added a goal that was a little to late for Boston as they faced a Penguins team that refused to conform to who they were last June.

This was a night where Duper reminded sports fans why hockey players are the toughest around by casually pulling out his tooth after a high stick from Kris Letang… and not missing a shift. Ouch.

The Penguins will continue the regular season tomorrow against the Columbus Blue Jackets at CONSOL at 7:00 PM tomorrow.
